Ladders

Ladders provide a quick and practical way to access work areas at moderate heights. They are commonly used for electrical work, painting, maintenance, construction, and general repairs where mobility and ease of setup are important. Each type of ladder offers different advantages depending on the task, risks, working height and available space.

Ladders

A-Frame Ladders

A-frame ladders provide stable, free-standing access for tasks at moderate height. They are commonly used for painting, electrical work, indoor repairs and general maintenance. Bo’s Plant & Tool Hire supplies both aluminium and fibreglass A-frame ladders, with fibreglass being preferred for environments where electrical safety is required.

Available Options:

  • 2.4 m A-Frame Ladder — Aluminium

  • 4.2 m A-Frame Ladder — Fibreglass (non-conductive)

Extension Ladders

Extension ladders are designed for accessing elevated areas where additional height is required. They are ideal for exterior building work, roofing, gutter maintenance and any job needing extended vertical reach. Bo’s offers extension ladders in both aluminium and fibreglass materials, allowing users to choose between a lightweight option or a non-conductive option for electrical work.

Available Options:

  • 4–8 m Extension Ladder — Aluminium

  • 6–12 m Extension Ladder — Aluminium

  • 4.2–8.4 m Extension Ladder — Fibreglass (non-conductive)

Choosing the Right Ladder

The most suitable ladder depends on the working height, the environment and the nature of the task.

A-frame ladders are free-standing and work well for indoor jobs, electrical work, painting and general maintenance where you don’t have a wall to lean against. They offer stability in confined or uneven spaces and are ideal for tasks carried out at a moderate height.

Extension ladders are better suited to outdoor or high-reach tasks. They provide significantly more height and must rest securely against a stable surface, making them the preferred choice for roof access, external building maintenance and elevated façade work.

Material also makes a difference. Fibreglass ladders are non-conductive and are used when electrical safety is a priority, such as near wiring or overhead lines. Aluminium ladders are lightweight and easy to manoeuvre, making them practical for general construction, maintenance and labour-focused tasks where electrical hazards are not present.

Choosing the correct ladder improves safety, efficiency and accuracy, especially when working in environments that demand precision or extended time off the ground.
